This was a final paper in my class “Health and the Hispanic Community” that identified the factors that contribute to the prevalence of obesity within the Hispanic community in the United States as well as recommendations for interventions to improve these health outcomes. To me, this model itself demonstrates to me the idea of holistic health which is a core idea in this major- the idea that health is influenced by every aspect of life and to treat and prevent well, it is important to see health in that light. This paper not only helped me to research one health problem in this lens, but also helped me to practice my technical Spanish.
This paper is my research that I completed during my study abroad in Costa Rica on the factors that influence menstrual poverty in Latin America. This was a semester long project that took a lot of outside research into this global problem. The paper is a literature review of previous research and campaigns to identify the social factors that influence this phenomenon. This paper
is very important to me because I put a lot of time and effort and found a passion in a special niche of global health, menstrual health, and it has become something that I would like to continue to study/work for in the future.
