Girl Up Greenville
During my fall semester senior year, I was the Program Intern for the nonprofit organization, GirlUp Greenville, as part of my nonprofit minor requirements. This nonprofit is an after school mentorship program for middle and high school girls at risk in the Greenville area. My specific jobs were to get to know the high school girls and help to create the curriculum for the new high school program in Berea High School. The time spent with these girls was precious and I love everything that this organization does to empower these girls to be productive members in their community.
Charleston County Parks
For the past three summers, I have worked as a paddlesports instructor at a kids adventure camp in Charleston, SC. Each day looks different at this job; it could be taking the kids on paddlesports trips, playing games in the pond, supervising counselors, or even taking our kids on the challenge course. This job has been so rewarding watching children fall in love with the outdoors while also forming great friendships with counselors and staff. Not only that, but I have also developed so much confidence in trip planning, being adaptable, and my skills on and off the water!
